The deadline for entry in the annual Mark Time Awards / Ogle Awards
for science fiction and fantasy audio theater is coming up on March 1, 2008.
The Mark Time/Ogle Awards are the only awards given solely for audio theater. This is their 12th year, and the entries are getting better every year. So, if you've produced science fiction or fantasy audio theater that you're proud of in 2007, make it a point to enter. You will find an entry form at: http://www.greatnorthernaudio.com/MarkTime/MT_Form.html. Just fill it out, add a $25 entry fee, and send it in with 5 copies of your entry. You can find out more at http://www.greatnorthernaudio.com/MarkTime/MarkTime.html, including past winners, the Mark Time SF Audio Hall of Fame, and judging criteria. The postmark deadline is March 1. The judges will notify winners by Mid-May. The awards will be presented at CONvergence, July 3, 2008. Winners will be given registration to the convention, a plaque and a t-shirt. It's a real treat to meet with other producers and spend a weekend talking shop, in the company of others who love science fiction. We will perform a new original radio show at the beginning of the convention. And during the long weekend there will be time for an audio panel, and an autographing party, so bring your products with you.

2007 Friends Of Old-Time Radio Script Contest
The 14th Annual FOTR scriptwriting Contest is now open. This time we want a half-hour program which is a takeoff of the classic soap operas, complete with brain tumors, mistaken identity - broken romance - whatever brings out the worst in that Golden Age Of Radio. Probably best would be two fifteen-minute episodes, complete with soupy organ music - and finish with a dramatic teaser for next episode. Sponsor (short commercials at beginning and end of each episode) should be a laundry product that existed in the 30's or 40's, or one created by you. Please limit cast to 5 or 6, including announcer, but minor parts could be doubled. Script must be ready to produce - 10 point type or larger, all sound and music cues included. First Prize is $200. and it will be performed live at our 2008 convention, with a DVD copy to first prize winner. Second prize is $100.00. Deadline for submissions is August 31, 2007 to Dave Zwengler, 319 Plymouth Rd., North Brunswick NJ 08902 (732-0940-7639). Three experienced judges from our steering committee will pick the winners. |
