WTGC is back in business!

A comedy group? But "The Gunderson Corporation" sounds like a ruthless mega-conglomerate out to rule the world! In truth it is five SF fans who perform their all-original comedy live-on-stage at conventions. Initially based in Philadelphia, the intrepid group has gypsied their way to Chicago and found a home at last.

Their name, The Gunderson Corporation, comes from the fake sponsor of their outrageous SF comedy radio plays, an insane and sleazy company that gleefully sells every bloody thing imaginable. Such as: Solar Flares: The only pen that can write on the surface of the sun! Trillo-Bytes: the tasty snack that has waited 92 million years to go into your mouth! MacHugo: the very first SF fast food restaurant chain. and Murphy's Law Soap: whatever can be clean, will be clean. And Mafia Travel Agency, and Soothsayer Wrist Watches, and so on ad jocularium!

Although this is just their hobby, done for the love of theater, the comedy group has performed at over 100 regional conventions, and two WorldCons!

Clean, or Blue. Take your pick. The versatile Gundersons (Gundersonians?) have a PG afternoon show, an R evening performance, and an Adults-Only-And-We-Mean-It show for their rare Midnight performances. Hold onto your hat for that one, folks.

More information about TGC, samples of their stand-up comedy sketches, radio plays, a list of SF cons where they be performing, etc., is available at their brand spanking new web page: www.gundersoncorp.com.

Sun Sounds Audio Theater
Sun Sounds Audio Theater has applied for a grant to continue in association with Sun Sounds Radio Reading Services for the Visually Impaired of AZ. The first tape {"Mystery & Mirth For Anyone Stuck in Traffic"} has been completed as an experiment to see whether blind listeners and also the general public want us to continue. The 90 min. drama production was completed with an all-volunteer cast and crew, featuring experienced local actors like Dean Hepker, Terri Erbe, Bobby Rich, and Tom Turner, among others.
The tape was professionally mixed and engineered with sound effects by Jeff Davis in his own studio, and written/directed by Jonathan Lowe {author of Postal, winner of an Earphones award as read by Frank Muller, and also an audiobook reviewer.} Mitzi Tharin is director of Sun Sounds charity, and her email address is SunSoundsTucson@aol.com.

At this point we have no idea if there will be another tape, but the first tape has been picked up by Books on Tape, at $9.95, 1-800-88-Books. Books on Tape¨ : Mystery And Mirth For Anyone SÉ

We have two more plays recorded, {the tape has 9 short plays of varying length}, but Jeff has so little time to work on these it has taken over a year to get the first tape done. So Mitzi is hoping for a grant to upgrade her studio at Sun Sounds to accommodate radio drama there.

If you have any more questions, let us know. Jonathan Lowe
